The number one thing I hear from guys coming out of AMP workshops and in emails is: “How do I start my own men’s group?”
I get it. I grew up in the middle of the country, where mention of a “men’s group” immediately raises eyebrows…at best.
Well, you may have to swim UP that stream. What is your life worth to you? What is possible for you that you may be missing out on?
A men’s group is simply this: Men getting together to intentionally support and challenge each other to get more of what they want out of life. This could be career, love, marriage, parenthood…whatever you are working with.
There is something deeply primal about men getting together in this way, and we thrive in it.
After exploring men’s work for the last 6 years, I can tell you, the group will make a difference.
My group has seen highs and lows, failures, major successes, birth, death…all flavors of life, and we have each progressed exponentially with the bi-weekly support and challenge the group provides.
I interviewed Jayson Gaddis, longtime men’s work facilitator and champion for men living greater lives. We talk about the challenges men face in getting started in work like this and go over some simple and practical steps for what a men’s group looks like and how to make it happen.

Fck yeah man. Great interview. Appreciate it.
I really can’t wait to connect with you guys in the US (if we can get a men’s group happening)
All the men’s work i’ve touched on here in Melbourne is mostly facilitated group therapy. Not really how I wanted to experience it.
Right on Dan.
Yeah, men’s groups come in a lot of flavors. AMP men’s groups are explicitly not therapy though there is sometimes therapeutic value coming out of them.
I tend to avoid the mytho-poetic expressions as well (Drum beating, spirit animals, etc.) but some guys really love that flavor.
I really value the no-nonesense, in the moment presence and feedback with the context of support and challenge. What comes up from that place is invariably gold.
Let’s make a virtual group happen 🙂

I can’t say enough about men’s groups. After 17 years of starting them in three states and seeing over 100 men go through them with many still in them… they work!
Do what you need to get in one or start one.
Yes! 🙂
